Robber on the Jericho Road

Description
An armed robber confronts a traveler in a rocky desert ravine, raising a curved knife as another figure stands ahead on the road. The setting recalls Jesus’ Parable of the Good Samaritan, where a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho “fell among robbers,” was stripped, beaten, and left half dead. The threatening blade and barren wilderness emphasize the danger of the road and the vulnerability of the wounded man before mercy appears through an unexpected Samaritan. In the teaching of Luke 10:25-37, Jesus exposes empty religion and defines true neighbor-love as active compassion. This artwork serves church teaching, sermon visuals, Bible study, and ministry resources focused on mercy, justice, compassion, and loving one’s neighbor.
