The Good Samaritan Sees the Wounded Man

Description
The Good Samaritan stands on a desolate wilderness road, looking down upon a wounded traveler lying stripped and helpless on the ground. The rocky hills and dry brush evoke the dangerous road from Jerusalem to Jericho in Jesus’ parable, where robbers left a man half dead and others passed him by. Here the moment centers on recognition and mercy: the Samaritan sees the injured man not as an enemy or inconvenience, but as a neighbor in need. In Luke 10:25-37, Jesus uses this encounter to teach that love for God is inseparable from compassionate action toward the suffering. The scene is well suited for teaching on mercy, neighbor-love, outreach, caregiving, and the call to “go, and do likewise.”
