The Good Samaritan on the Jericho Road

A wounded traveler lies stripped and helpless on a rocky desert road while a robed figure approaches through the wilderness. The barren ravine and isolated path recall Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan, where a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho falls among robbers and is left half dead. After others pass by, the Samaritan comes near, sees the injured man, and acts with mercy by binding his wounds and carrying him to safety.

The scene centers on the moment before compassion becomes action. In the teaching of Luke 10:25-37, Jesus answers the question “Who is my neighbor?” by revealing that true obedience to God is shown through costly love, crossing social boundaries to serve the suffering.
