Three Crosses at Golgotha

At dusk on the hill of Golgotha, three condemned men hang upon crosses while Roman soldiers stand guard beneath them. Jesus is shown crucified between two criminals, fulfilling the Gospel accounts of the Passion as the place called “The Skull” becomes the setting of His suffering and sacrifice. A Roman figure in helmet and cloak stands near the center cross, with another soldier nearby, emphasizing the public execution under imperial authority.

The dark silhouettes against the fading sky draw attention to the stark theology of the cross: the innocent Christ numbered with transgressors, bearing shame and judgment while opening the way of redemption.
