Self Righteous

Description
Jesus stands face to face with a smaller figure wearing a tilted halo, creating a pointed visual parable about self-righteousness. The childlike character holds a hand to the chest with a satisfied posture, while Christ’s larger presence and radiant halo expose the contrast between human pride and true holiness. The simple forms make the message direct: outward signs of goodness cannot replace humility before God. This artwork connects naturally with Jesus’ teaching in the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, where the one who trusted in his own righteousness left unjustified, while the humbled sinner received mercy. A fitting image for sermons, Bible studies, youth lessons, repentance themes, discipleship materials, and ministry teaching on pride, grace, and spiritual humility.

Scriptures
James 4:6   Luke 18:9-14   Matthew 23:12   Romans 10:3

James 4

6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

Luke 18

9 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: 10 “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ 13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Matthew 23

12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Romans 10

3 For, being ignorant of the righteousness of God, and seeking to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.
