Description
Aaron the high priest stands with a smoking censer as incense rises before the Lord, while distressed Israelites kneel and collapse nearby. The scene portrays the solemn moment after rebellion in the congregation, when Moses commands Aaron to take fire from the altar and make atonement for the people. Aaron moves between judgment and mercy, and the plague is stopped through priestly intercession. The altar, censer, priestly garments, and suffering congregation emphasize the biblical themes of holiness, mediation, repentance, and God’s provision of mercy in the midst of wrath. This Old Testament subject is well suited for teaching on Numbers 16, the priesthood, intercessory prayer, and the need for atonement.
