Storm Clouds Over the Hill Country

Rolling hill country stretches beneath a dramatic ceiling of heavy clouds, with a narrow green ravine cutting through the dry slopes and a small cluster of trees standing on the ridge. The open landscape evokes the wilderness paths, high places, and pastoral terrain often associated with biblical reflection, pilgrimage, and prayer. Its rising hills naturally call to mind the psalmist’s confession: “I lift up my eyes to the hills,” a declaration that help comes not from the landscape itself but from the Lord who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121 gives this type of scenery a devotional voice, turning rugged terrain and unsettled skies into a meditation on divine guardianship.
