Standing Stones in the Mountain Valley

Product
Image ID

Description
Ancient standing stones rise from a grassy hillside, their weathered faces marked with lichen and age. The circle of upright rocks sits within a wide mountain valley, surrounded by rolling hills, distant ridges, and a dramatic sky. The scene carries the atmosphere of an old place of remembrance, where stone, earth, and open sky speak of endurance across generations.

For Christian ministry use, the setting can serve as a visual metaphor for memorial stones, covenant remembrance, pilgrimage, and the call to remember the works of God. While the stones shown are not a specific biblical site, their form resonates with passages where stones are raised as witnesses so future generations will ask what the Lord has done.

Scriptures
Genesis 28:18-22   Joshua 24:26-27   Joshua 4:6-7

Genesis 28

18 So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it. 19 He called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first. 20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, 21 so that I come again to my father's house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God, 22 and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.”

Joshua 24

26 And Joshua wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And he took a large stone and set it up there under the terebinth that was by the sanctuary of the LORD. 27 And Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us, for it has heard all the words of the LORD that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.”

Joshua 4

6 that this may be a sign among you. When your children ask in time to come, ‘What do those stones mean to you?’ 7 then you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever.”
