Centurion at the Crucifixion

Jesus Christ hangs upon the cross beneath a darkened sky while a Roman centurion stands in the foreground, his face turned toward the crucified Lord. Another condemned man is visible at the edge of the scene, placing the moment within the wider execution at Golgotha. The soldier’s armor and attentive gaze draw the viewer to the Gospel witness that followed Jesus’ death: those keeping watch saw the signs surrounding the crucifixion and confessed, “Truly this was the Son of God.”
