Flight into Egypt at Dawn

Description
Joseph walks ahead with a traveler’s staff while Mary follows across a rocky wilderness, cradling the infant Jesus close in her arms. The distant mountain range and pale dawn sky frame the Holy Family as exiles on the road, leaving danger behind under God’s protection. The scene portrays the Flight into Egypt, when Joseph obeyed the angelic warning and took Mary and the Child away from Herod’s violence. In Matthew’s account, the journey reveals both the vulnerability of the incarnate Christ and the faithfulness of God, who preserves His Son even through displacement, hardship, and night travel. This artwork serves well for Christmas season teaching, Epiphany reflections, sermons on obedience, refugee ministry themes, and studies of divine guidance in Matthew 2.
