About the artwork
Egyptian Bondage portrays Hebrew slaves laboring under the watch of Egyptian taskmasters. Exhausted men haul clay and work with bricks beneath a colossal seated statue of Pharaoh, while overseers carry whips. An obelisk, palm trees, and monumental architecture frame the scene of harsh service.
The artwork recalls Israel’s oppression before the Exodus, when a fearful king forced the Hebrew people into labor with mortar and brick. As described in Exodus 2:23-25 (ESV), their suffering became the setting for God to hear their groaning and remember His covenant. The scene invites reflection on perseverance, divine faithfulness, and the deliverance God would prepare through Moses.
Suited to a church foyer or office, this print offers a visual starting point for conversations about the Exodus and its themes of oppression and rescue. Printed on archival canvas with mirror-wrapped edges, it arrives ready to hang.
