Daniel Brought Before King Darius

Description
Daniel is dragged into the royal court before a reclining eastern king, surrounded by armed attendants, counselors, and palace servants. The captive stands exposed and restrained while the ruler extends his hand from a richly carved couch, a scene of judgment framed by imperial power and courtly ceremony. The image captures the crisis in Daniel 6, when Daniel’s enemies used the king’s decree to accuse him for praying faithfully to God. Though the throne room appears to hold authority over Daniel’s body, the story reveals a deeper sovereignty: human law cannot overturn covenant faithfulness, and God preserves His servant beyond the reach of political intrigue. This artwork serves well for themes of steadfast prayer, persecution, righteous witness, unjust accusation, and trust in God under hostile rule.
