Moses follows the Lords directions and commands water from the rock for the thirsty multitude by striking the rock. But Moses smote the rock twice with his rod in anger because of the complaining people and was rebuked.
11 And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice, and water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.
