Walk in the Light

Product

Description
There is a paved path outside Jerusalem's Old City wall, a little South of the Jaffa Gate. As the painting developed, I began adding symbols of the world's greatest story. Within the arm of the cross, you will find the Saviour's wounded heel and the serpent's shattered head. The painting also speaks about a new life of walking in the light, of fellowship with God and one another, beyond the cross. In the centre, beside a broken idol of self, are symbols of discarded things – infirmity, pretense and addictions. On the right, hyssop (synonymous with cleansing) blooms around an olive tree into which a wild, gentile branch has been grafted.

Galatians 6

14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Genesis 3

15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

Isaiah 53

4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed.6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
