Uzzah Falls Beside the Ark

Uzzah reels backward beside the ox-drawn cart carrying the sacred Ark of the Covenant, its blue covering rising above the wooden frame as the procession moves through the open countryside. The oxen press forward while men nearby look on, and the fallen man’s raised arm and covered face mark the sudden judgment recorded during King David’s attempt to bring the ark to Jerusalem. The scene reflects the account in 2 Samuel and 1 Chronicles, where Uzzah reaches toward the ark when the oxen stumble and is struck down because the holy presence of God is not to be handled casually.
