Description
I kept being drawn back to this spot. I watched a stream of Israelis calling on the God of their fathers with no hint of embarrassment, or wedging tightly folded written prayers between the massive blocks of stone erected by King Solomon as foundations for the temple. Later, I thought of the words of Isaiah spoken and read down the centuries to people who have still to make the connection as to who he was taking about. Obvious - but hidden. The unveiling of truth is not dependent on intellect. Instead, God has promised, “You shall find Me when you shall seek Me and search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29 v 13. In the stones, masked as Hebrew text, are words from Isaiah ch53. Obvious – but hidden.

Ezekiel 12

2 “Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are a rebellious house.

Ezekiel 36

26 And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Isaiah 6

9 And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’10 Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”

Jeremiah 29

13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

John 12

40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.”

Luke 10

22 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”23 Then turning to the disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see!24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”

Matthew 13

14 Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: “‘You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive.15 For this people's heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’

Zechariah 12

10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn.

Zechariah 8

7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: behold, I will save my people from the east country and from the west country,
