Description

The storm overcame the ship and when they saw land a distance off, it was decided to run the ship aground if they could. They cut loose the anchors and untied the ropes that held the rudders. The ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow struck fast and would not move and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the serf.

He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and make for the land,44 and the rest on planks or on pieces of the ship. And so it was that all were brought safely to land.
