ScripturesRevelations 17:10-17

1 Chronicles 17

10 “‘from the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the Lord will build you a house.10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.”10 And the Philistine said, “I defy the ranks of Israel this day. Give me a man, that we may fight together.”10 And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat.10 They set up for themselves pillars and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree,10 “Then even the valiant man, whose heart is like the heart of a lion, will utterly melt with fear, for all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man, and that those who are with him are valiant men.10 The brothers immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived they went into the Jewish synagogue.10 “Then you shall do according to what they declare to you from that place that the Lord will choose. And you shall be careful to do according to all that they direct you.10 So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.10 “Behold, it is planted; will it thrive? Will it not utterly wither when the east wind strikes it—wither away on the bed where it sprouted?”10 “This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your offspring after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.10 For you have forgotten the God of your salvation and have not remembered the Rock of your refuge; therefore, though you plant pleasant plants and sow the vine-branch of a stranger,10 “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”10 “But you, come on again, all of you, and I shall not find a wise man among you.10 “All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them.10 the land to the south being Ephraim’s and that to the north being Manasseh’s, with the sea forming its boundary. On the north Asher is reached, and on the east Issachar.10 And Micah said to him, “Stay with me, and be to me a father and a priest, and I will give you ten pieces of silver a year and a suit of clothes and your living.” And the Levite went in.10 “If any one of the house of Israel or of the strangers who sojourn among them eats any blood, I will set my face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people.10 “So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’”10 And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?”10 And the Lord said to Moses, “Put back the staff of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept as a sign for the rebels, that you may make an end of their grumblings against me, lest they die.”10 A rebuke goes deeper into a man of understanding than a hundred blows into a fool.10 They close their hearts to pity; with their mouths they speak arrogantly.10 “they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while.11 “‘When your days are fulfilled to walk with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.11 And as she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, “Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”11 When Saul and all Israel heard these words of the Philistine, they were dismayed and greatly afraid.11 Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents and silver for tribute, and the Arabians also brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats.11 and there they made offerings on all the high places, as the nations did whom the Lord carried away before them. And they did wicked things, provoking the Lord to anger,11 “But my counsel is that all Israel be gathered to you, from Dan to Beersheba, as the sand by the sea for multitude, and that you go to battle in person.11 Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.11 “According to the instructions that they give you, and according to the decision which they pronounce to you, you shall do. You shall not turn aside from the verdict that they declare to you, either to the right hand or to the left.11 Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed.11 Then the word of the Lord came to me:11 “You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.11 though you make them grow on the day that you plant them, and make them blossom in the morning that you sow, yet the harvest will flee away in a day of grief and incurable pain.11 Like the partridge that gathers a brood that she did not hatch, so is he who gets riches but not by justice; in the midst of his days they will leave him, and at his end he will be a fool.11 “My days are past; my plans are broken off, the desires of my heart.11 “And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.11 Also in Issachar and in Asher Manasseh had Beth-shean and its villages, and Ibleam and its villages, and the inhabitants of Dor and its villages, and the inhabitants of En-dor and its villages, and the inhabitants of Taanach and its villages, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its villages; the third is Naphath.11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man, and the young man became to him like one of his sons.11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.11 On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee.11 He answered, “Elijah does come, and he will restore all things.11 Thus did Moses; as the Lord commanded him, so he did.11 An evil man seeks only rebellion, and a cruel messenger will be sent against him.11 They have now surrounded our steps; they set their eyes to cast us to the ground.11 “As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction.12 “‘He shall build a house for me, and I will establish his throne forever.12 And she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.”12 Now David was the son of an Ephrathite of Bethlehem in Judah, named Jesse, who had eight sons. In the days of Saul the man was already old and advanced in years.12 And Jehoshaphat grew steadily greater. He built in Judah fortresses and store cities,12 and they served idols, of which the Lord had said to them, “You shall not do this.”12 “So we shall come upon him in some place where he is to be found, and we shall light upon him as the dew falls on the ground, and of him and all the men with him not one will be left.12 Many of them therefore believed, with not a few Greek women of high standing as well as men.12 “The man who acts presumptuously by not obeying the priest who stands to minister there before the Lord your God, or the judge, that man shall die. So you shall purge the evil from Israel.12 But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.12 “Say now to the rebellious house, Do you not know what these things mean? Tell them, behold, the king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took her king and her princes and brought them to him to Babylon.12 “He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised. Every male throughout your generations, whether born in your house or bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring,12 Ah, the thunder of many peoples; they thunder like the thundering of the sea! Ah, the roar of nations; they roar like the roaring of mighty waters!12 A glorious throne set on high from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.12 “They make night into day: ‘The light,’ they say, ‘is near to the darkness.’12 “While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.12 Yet the people of Manasseh could not take possession of those cities, but the Canaanites persisted in dwelling in that land.12 And Micah ordained the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and was in the house of Micah.12 “Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, No person among you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger who sojourns among you eat blood.12 And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance12 “But I tell you that Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. So also the Son of Man will certainly suffer at their hands.”12 And the people of Israel said to Moses, “Behold, we perish, we are undone, we are all undone.12 Let a man meet a she-bear robbed of her cubs rather than a fool in his folly.12 He is like a lion eager to tear, as a young lion lurking in ambush.12 “And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast.13 “‘I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from him who was before you,13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said. But first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterward make something for yourself and your son.13 The three oldest sons of Jesse had followed Saul to the battle. And the names of his three sons who went to the battle were Eliab the firstborn, and next to him Abinadab, and the third Shammah.13 and he had large supplies in the cities of Judah. He had soldiers, mighty men of valor, in Jerusalem.13 Yet the Lord warned Israel and Judah by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways and keep my commandments and my statutes, in accordance with all the Law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”13 “If he withdraws into a city, then all Israel will bring ropes to that city, and we shall drag it into the valley, until not even a pebble is to be found there.”13 But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was proclaimed by Paul at Berea also, they came there too, agitating and stirring up the crowds.13 “And all the people shall hear and fear and not act presumptuously again.13 And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword.13 “And he took one of the royal offspring and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath (the chief men of the land he had taken away),13 “both he who is born in your house and he who is bought with your money, shall surely be circumcised. So shall my covenant be in your flesh an everlasting covenant.13 The nations roar like the roaring of many waters, but he will rebuke them, and they will flee far away, chased like chaff on the mountains before the wind and whirling dust before the storm.13 O Lord, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you shall be put to shame; those who turn away from you shall be written in the earth, for they have forsaken the Lord, the fountain of living water.13 “If I hope for Sheol as my house, if I make my bed in darkness,13 “But now I am coming to you, and these things I speak in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in themselves.13 Now when the people of Israel grew strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, but did not utterly drive them out.13 Then Micah said, “Now I know that the Lord will prosper me, because I have a Levite as priest.”13 “Any one also of the people of Israel, or of the strangers who sojourn among them, who takes in hunting any beast or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth.13 and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”13 Then the disciples understood that he was speaking to them of John the Baptist.13 “Everyone who comes near, who comes near to the tabernacle of the Lord, shall die. Are we all to perish?”13 If anyone returns evil for good, evil will not depart from his house.13 Arise, O Lord! Confront him, subdue him! Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,13 “These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast.14 “‘but I will confirm him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be established forever.’”14 “For thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the Lord sends rain upon the earth.’”14 David was the youngest. The three eldest followed Saul,14 This was the muster of them by fathers’ houses: Of Judah, the commanders of thousands: Adnah the commander, with 300,000 mighty men of valor;14 But they would not listen, but were stubborn, as their fathers had been, who did not believe in the Lord their God.14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring harm upon Absalom.14 Then the brothers immediately sent Paul off on his way to the sea, but Silas and Timothy remained there.14 “When you come to the land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you possess it and dwell in it and then say, ‘I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me,’14 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this as a memorial in a book and recite it in the ears of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.”14 “that the kingdom might be humble and not lift itself up, and keep his covenant that it might stand.14 “Any uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant.”14 At evening time, behold, terror! Before morning, they are no more! This is the portion of those who loot us, and the lot of those who plunder us.14 Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved, for you are my praise.14 “if I say to the pit, ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ or ‘My sister,’14 “I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.14 Then the people of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, “Why have you given me but one lot and one portion as an inheritance, although I am a numerous people, since all along the Lord has blessed me?”14 “For the life of every creature is its blood: its blood is its life. Therefore I have said to the people of Israel, You shall not eat the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.14 When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed.14 And when they came to the crowd, a man came up to him and, kneeling before him,14 The beginning of strife is like letting out water, so quit before the quarrel breaks out.14 from men by your hand, O Lord, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. You fill their womb with treasure; they are satisfied with children, and they leave their abundance to their infants.14 “They will make war on the Lamb, and the Lamb will conquer them, for he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with him are called and chosen and faithful.”15 In accordance with all these words, and in accordance with all this vision, Nathan spoke to David.15 And she went and did as Elijah said. And she and he and her household ate for many days.15 but David went back and forth from Saul to feed his father’s sheep at Bethlehem.15 and next to him Jehohanan the commander, with 280,000;15 They despised his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers and the warnings that he gave them. They went after false idols and became false, and they followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the Lord had commanded them that they should not do like them.15 Then Hushai said to Zadok and Abiathar the priests, “Thus and so did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel, and thus and so have I counseled.15 Those who conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens, and after receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible, they departed.15 “you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose. One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.15 And Moses built an altar and called the name of it, The Lord Is My Banner,15 “But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors to Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. Will he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he break the covenant and yet escape?15 And God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name.15 Behold, they say to me, “Where is the word of the Lord ? Let it come!”15 “where then is my hope? Who will see my hope?15 “I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.15 And Joshua said to them, “If you are a numerous people, go up by yourselves to the forest, and there clear ground for yourselves in the land of the Perizzites and the Rephaim, since the hill country of Ephraim is too narrow for you.”15 “And every person who eats what dies of itself or what is torn by beasts, whether he is a native or a sojourner, shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean until the evening; then he shall be clean.15 Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice;15 said, “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and he suffers terribly. For often he falls into the fire, and often into the water.15 He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord.15 As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.15 And the angel said to me, “The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages.16 Then King David went in and sat before the Lord and said, “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?16 The jar of flour was not spent, neither did the jug of oil become empty, according to the word of the Lord that he spoke by Elijah.16 For forty days the Philistine came forward and took his stand, morning and evening.16 and next to him Amasiah the son of Zichri, a volunteer for the service of the Lord, with 200,000 mighty men of valor.16 And they abandoned all the commandments of the Lord their God, and made for themselves metal images of two calves; and they made an Asherah and worshiped all the host of heaven and served Baal.16 “Now therefore send quickly and tell David, ‘Do not stay tonight at the fords of the wilderness, but by all means pass over, lest the king and all the people who are with him be swallowed up.’”16 Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols.16 “Only he must not acquire many horses for himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall never return that way again.’16 saying, “A hand upon the throne of the Lord ! The Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”16 “As I live, declares the Lord God, surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die.16 “I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.”16 I have not run away from being your shepherd, nor have I desired the day of sickness. You know what came out of my lips; it was before your face.16 “Will it go down to the bars of Sheol? Shall we descend together into the dust?”16 “They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.16 The people of Joseph said, “The hill country is not enough for us. Yet all the Canaanites who dwell in the plain have chariots of iron, both those in Beth-shean and its villages and those in the Valley of Jezreel.”16 “But if he does not wash them or bathe his flesh, he shall bear his iniquity.”16 and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan.16 “And I brought him to your disciples, and they could not heal him.”16 Why should a fool have money in his hand to buy wisdom when he has no sense?16 “And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire,17 “And this was a small thing in your eyes, O God. You have also spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have shown me future generations, O Lord God!17 After this the son of the woman, the mistress of the house, became ill. And his illness was so severe that there was no breath left in him.17 And Jesse said to David his son, “Take for your brothers an ephah of this parched grain, and these ten loaves, and carry them quickly to the camp to your brothers.17 Of Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valor, with 200,000 men armed with bow and shield;17 And they burned their sons and their daughters as offerings and used divination and omens and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.17 Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz were waiting at En-rogel. A female servant was to go and tell them, and they were to go and tell King David, for they were not to be seen entering the city.17 So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.17 “And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away, nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold.17 “Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in war, when mounds are cast up and siege walls built to cut off many lives.17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed and said to himself, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”17 Be not a terror to me; you are my refuge in the day of disaster.17 “Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.17 Then Joshua said to the house of Joseph, to Ephraim and Manasseh, “You are a numerous people and have great power. You shall not have one allotment only,17 Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine?17 And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.”17 A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.17 “for God has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and handing over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled.
