About the artwork

Removal From the Cross portrays the solemn close of the crucifixion as Jesus’ body is received with reverence beneath a burning sunset over Golgotha. Three empty crosses rise on the hill, their ropes hanging silently, while a Roman soldier stands watch with a spear.

The figures beside Christ recall Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, who came forward to honor Him in death and prepare Him for burial. Their faithful service affirms that Christ’s sacrifice was publicly witnessed and lovingly answered, even as the path toward resurrection hope began. This sacred moment is reflected in John 19:38-40 (ESV), Mark 15:43-46 (ESV), Luke 23:50-53 (ESV), and Matthew 27:57-60 (ESV).

A meaningful choice for a church foyer or reflective living room, this archival canvas features mirror-wrapped edges and arrives ready to hang.
