Description
King David rises from his royal bed as a robed messenger stands beside him with one hand extended toward the king and the other lifted in solemn witness. The chamber setting, heavy drapery, carved furnishings, and David’s weakened posture place the moment late in his reign, when urgent counsel reached the aging monarch concerning the future of Israel’s throne. The standing figure is presented as Nathan the prophet, confronting the crisis of succession and calling David back to his sworn commitment that Solomon would reign after him. The upward-pointing gesture gives the scene a theological weight: kingship is not merely a family matter but a charge under God. This artwork serves well for teaching on faithful counsel, covenant responsibility, leadership transition, and the providence of God in the royal line of David.
