My Yoke Is Easy

A hand-hewn wooden yoke is shown with rope loops and fastening pegs, the kind of burden-bearing harness used for working animals in the ancient world. The simple object becomes a direct visual symbol of Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11:28-30: “Take my yoke upon you… and you will find rest for your souls.” In its biblical setting, the yoke represents submission, learning, labor, and discipleship. Christ does not remove the call to follow Him, but He transforms the burden by joining the weary to His gentleness, humility, and strength.
