Judgment on Herod’s Throne

Product
Image ID

Description
King Herod sits slumped upon a royal throne as flames rise around the seat of power, while pale robed figures stand like heavenly witnesses on either side. The composition evokes the biblical judgment in Acts 12, when Herod Agrippa received the praise of the crowd as though he were divine and was struck by an angel of the Lord because he did not give glory to God. The burning throne becomes a visual sermon on the limits of earthly rule: authority, honor, and public acclaim cannot stand before the holiness of God when they become idolatry. This artwork is suited for teaching on pride, divine judgment, the sovereignty of God, and the warning that glory belongs to the Lord alone.

Acts 12:21-23

Acts 12

21 On an appointed day Herod put on his royal robes, took his seat upon the throne, and delivered an oration to them. 22 And the people were shouting, “The voice of a god, and not of a man!” 23 Immediately an angel of the Lord struck him down, because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and breathed his last.
