Jethro Meets Moses in the Wilderness

Moses and Jethro greet one another with a warm handshake in the rugged wilderness near the mountain of God. Dressed in ancient Israelite garments, the two men stand among desert rocks and dry hills, embodying the reunion described in Exodus 18 when Jethro, priest of Midian and Moses’ father-in-law, came to the Israelite camp after hearing how the Lord delivered Israel from Egypt. The staff beside Moses points to his wilderness leadership, while the friendly clasp of hands emphasizes family honor, covenant fellowship, and wise counsel.
