Israelite Women Embracing in the Wilderness

Product
Image ID
ebsps0970
Description
Israelite women stand together on a barren wilderness path, one holding another in a close embrace while a third woman rests beside them with a wooden staff. A water jar and travel bundle sit on the rocky ground, emphasizing the hardship of journeying through dry country with only what can be carried. The scene evokes the long wilderness wanderings of Israel after the exodus from Egypt, where families depended on God’s provision, shared burdens, and continued forward through testing terrain. The embrace gives the composition a human center: covenant people are not shown as an anonymous crowd, but as mothers, daughters, and companions sustaining one another in the desert. Suitable for ministry themes of endurance, pilgrimage, exile, comfort, community, and God’s care for His people in the wilderness.

Scriptures
Deuteronomy 8:2-4   Exodus 13:18   Exodus 16:1-3   Numbers 33:1-2

Deuteronomy 8

2 And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. 3 And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. 4 Your clothing did not wear out on you and your foot did not swell these forty years.

Exodus 13

18 But God led the people around by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea. And the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt equipped for battle.

Exodus 16

1 They set out from Elim, and all the congregation of the people of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had departed from the land of Egypt. 2 And the whole congregation of the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness, 3 and the people of Israel said to them, “Would that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the meat pots and ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.”

Numbers 33

1 These are the stages of the people of Israel, when they went out of the land of Egypt by their companies under the leadership of Moses and Aaron. 2 Moses wrote down their starting places, stage by stage, by command of the LORD, and these are their stages according to their starting places.
