Ice and Roaring Sea

A towering mass of glacial ice is struck by crashing ocean waves, sending foam and spray high across the seascape. The meeting of frozen depth and restless water evokes the grandeur of creation and the authority of God over the natural world. In biblical reflection, the sea often represents forces too vast for human control, yet Scripture declares the Lord mightier than the thunder of many waters. The ice also recalls the Lord’s questioning of Job: “From whose womb did the ice come?”—a reminder that creation’s hidden powers belong to the Creator.
