Guarding the Rebuilding of Jerusalem’s Wall

Jerusalem’s wall is being rebuilt under armed protection: one worker sets heavy stones into place while a watchman stands beside the unfinished masonry with spear and shield in hand. The scene reflects the days of Nehemiah, when the returned exiles labored to restore the broken defenses of Jerusalem while facing threats from surrounding enemies. Nehemiah organized the people so that some built and others guarded, teaching that faithful restoration often requires both diligent work and watchful courage.
