The Miser’s Rainy Day

A stern miser clutches his coins at a desk marked “Hold Fast,” guarding wealth while a veiled mother holds her infant beside him. Above the room, a large hand draws back a curtain to reveal a horse-drawn funeral coach under the words “A Rainy Day,” turning the man’s confidence in stored treasure into a warning of mortality. The open safe, scattered coins, and ignored woman with child form a Christian moral lesson on greed, charity, and the false security of riches. The scene echoes Jesus’ teaching to lay up treasure in heaven rather than on earth, where possessions cannot save the soul.
