Patmos Mosaic

Saint John the Theologian stands within the rocky landscape of Patmos, haloed and robed, while a seated scribe records the sacred words beside a cave. The arched mosaic presents the traditional Orthodox memory of John’s exile on the island, where he received the vision that became the Book of Revelation. The open writing tablet, cave setting, and gesture from heaven emphasize divine revelation: the apostle does not create the message from himself, but bears witness to what he is shown and commanded to write.
