Woman and Child Harvesting Grain

Product
Image ID

Description
A woman and child stand among ripening heads of grain, clothed in simple biblical-era garments and carrying a gathered bundle of stalks with a wooden staff. The open field, sheaf, and working posture present the daily labor of an ancient harvest, where families depended on the fruit of the land and the mercy of God for provision.

The scene recalls the biblical world of wheat and barley fields, gleaning, and covenant care for the poor, the widow, and the stranger. In the Law, Israel was commanded not to strip the fields bare, leaving portions for those in need. The harvest therefore becomes more than agricultural labor; it becomes a sign of God's provision, human diligence, family responsibility, and compassion within the community of faith. Useful for ministry themes of harvest, stewardship, provision, rural Bible life, and Old Testament teaching.

Scriptures
Deuteronomy 24:19   Leviticus 19:9-10   Matthew 9:37-38   Psalm 65:9-13   Ruth 2:2-3

Deuteronomy 24

19 “When you reap your harvest in your field and forget a sheaf in the field, you shall not go back to get it. It shall be for the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow, that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

Leviticus 19

9 “When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field right up to its edge, neither shall you gather the gleanings after your harvest. 10 And you shall not strip your vineyard bare, neither shall you gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You shall leave them for the poor and for the sojourner: I am the LORD your God.

Matthew 9

37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

Psalm 65

9 You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. 10 You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. 11 You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance. 12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, 13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.

Ruth 2

2 And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor.” And she said to her, “Go, my daughter.” 3 So she set out and went and gleaned in the field after the reapers, and she happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the clan of Elimelech.
