Fish on Ice

Product
Image ID

Description
Fresh whole fish rest packed in crushed ice, their silver bodies and dark eyes arranged closely as market catch. The subject serves as a strong visual reference for fish in biblical life: the everyday food of Galilee, the trade of fishermen called by Jesus, and the sign of divine provision in Gospel narratives. While no specific miracle is depicted, the fish can support ministry visuals about sustenance, discipleship, abundance, and the simple foods named in Scripture. Its stark presentation also makes it useful for teaching on first-century livelihoods, coastal markets, and the practical world behind the calling of the disciples.

Scriptures
John 21:9-13   John 6:9-11   Luke 5:4-6   Matthew 4:18-20

John 21

9 When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.” 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” Now none of the disciples dared ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish.

John 6

9 “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for so many?” 10 Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, about five thousand in number. 11 Jesus then took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed them to those who were seated. So also the fish, as much as they wanted.

Luke 5

4 And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking.

Matthew 4

18 While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.
