Description
Early Christian servants kneel beside a frail elderly man, offering bread, water, and personal care. A basket of loaves rests at his side while one attendant supports him and another pours drink from a decorated vessel, presenting a clear picture of compassionate ministry among the vulnerable. The clothing and setting evoke the Greek-speaking world of the early church, where practical service became a visible expression of faith. The scene reflects the biblical calling behind the first deacons in Acts 6, when the church appointed faithful servants to ensure that the neglected received daily provision. It also echoes Christ’s teaching that feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, and caring for the sick are acts of service rendered unto Him. This artwork is suited for themes of mercy ministry, deacon service, benevolence, church outreach, and Christian compassion.

Scriptures
Acts 2:44-45   Acts 6:1-6   James 1:27   Matthew 25:35-40

Acts 2

44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 45 And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need.

Acts 6

1 Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. 2 And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. 3 Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” 5 And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. 6 These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them.

James 1

27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Matthew 25

35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
