Comfort Those That Mourn

Where possible I like my paintings to have a happy ending. ‘Comfort those that Mourn’, matches a sister painting entitled, ‘Jug not, that ye be not Jugged’. The jugs that went off with their spouts in the air, got convicted of their nasty, judgmental attitudes, repented and came back to their former comrade. Now they gather to offer comfort, care and support. Originally, the two paintings were exhibited as a pair and thus told a story with a happy ending. The blanket, a crocheted milk jug cover with little glass beads round its edge, is one my mother used when I was a small boy. Comfort those that Mourn - is not a quote from the Beatitudes. The nearest I could find is, Comfort them which are in any trouble. by Graham Braddock
