Baskets of Firstfruits

Description
Woven harvest baskets overflow with figs, fig leaves, and branches, presenting the produce as a gathered offering rather than an ordinary still life. The filled baskets call to mind the firstfruits brought before the Lord in Israel’s worship, when the earliest yield of the land was placed in a basket and given through the priest as an act of gratitude and covenant remembrance. In the biblical pattern, the first portion of the harvest confessed that the land, the increase, and the future provision all belonged to God. The fig branches also evoke the fruitfulness of the promised land and the blessing of obedient stewardship. This artwork serves well for themes of harvest, thanksgiving, tithes and offerings, stewardship teaching, firstfruits sermons, and Old Testament worship resources.
