Angel Seated at the Empty Tomb

The angel at the tomb sits calmly upon the stonework in a flowing robe, facing the viewer with quiet authority. The rough rock setting and seated posture point to the Resurrection morning, when the sealed grave of Jesus was opened and the heavenly messenger announced that the crucified Lord was no longer among the dead. In the Gospel accounts, the angel’s presence at the tomb interprets the empty grave: death has been defeated, and the disciples are called to remember Christ’s words and proclaim His rising.
