Ahasuerus Orders Haman to the Gallows

Description
King Ahasuerus stands in royal authority, pointing his command toward the place of execution as Haman is seized by court officials and soldiers. Behind them rises the gallows prepared for Mordecai, now turned against the man who plotted the destruction of the Jews. The crowded Persian court, armed guards, and distant fortified city frame the moment as public judgment rather than private revenge.

The scene draws from Esther 7:9-10, where Haman’s conspiracy collapses after Esther exposes his malice before the king. The reversal is central to the book of Esther: the instrument meant for the righteous becomes the downfall of the wicked. For ministry use, this artwork speaks to divine providence, justice, deliverance, and the hidden hand of God preserving His covenant people.

Esther 6

13 And Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of the Jewish people, you will not overcome him but will surely fall before him.”

Esther 7

9 Then Harbona, one of the eunuchs in attendance on the king, said, “Moreover, the gallows that Haman has prepared for Mordecai, whose word saved the king, is standing at Haman's house, fifty cubits high.” 10 And the king said, “Hang him on that.” So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the wrath of the king abated.

Esther 8

1 On that day King Ahasuerus gave to Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews. And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told what he was to her. 2 And the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
